Turns out there’s a Luigi Mangione inside many Americans.

In most developed countries, healthcare works like this: You go to the doctor, and then you get it. Wild, right?

In the United States, our system is a bit more complicated. First, you buy insurance. Next, you go to the doctor and pay your deductible. If you go over your deductible, insurance is supposed to cover the rest — though it’s more than likely that they’ll just tell you to fuck off and you’ll end up either fighting or having to pay it anyway.

Isn’t this system great?

Well, after years of putting up with this bullshit, it seems like people have finally had enough. Not only have there been targeted killings of healthcare CEOs, but every attempt from health insurers to get back in the good graces of the public have fallen flat on their face.

For example, UnitedHealthcare has recently been pushing an ad in which a woman says she’s “amazed” at “how much” of the cost of her cancer treatment has been covered by her insurance.

Ignoring the fact that one study found UnitedHealthcare denied about a third of claims, and that the company brought in over $14 billion in profit last year, I’ve got a crazy idea — shouldn’t the insurance cover *all* of your cancer treatment? Better yet, why don’t we just get rid of the insurers altogether and have a universal system? It’ll save billions and we won’t need to see these shitty ads anymore!

Turns out, I’m not alone in thinking this, as commenters have been quick to share their displeasure with the ad on social media.
